THE VASQUIES RESIDENCE

In the Heart of Hillcrest community, a family of four wanted to create a modern kitchen/dining room yet, have the space for their two young girls to go around place and keep the flow. This project is an experimentation in the representation of preconceived household orientation and furnishings. The property needed to maintain its original envelope while producing a more open spatial organization focusing on circulation, allowing the modernization focusing on circulation, allowing the modernization of the kitchen, dinning area, and bathroom. Through this modernization, a key concept was developed how to develop an interaction between the object oriented movable furniture, and the mass oriented non-movable kitchen cabinetry. This interaction was achieved by making the cabinetry act as individual expressions as opposed to bulky masses, which reads throughout the entire project.
